Counting the Cost WEBINAR (ELE 101)

This class was formerly called, Adopting the DCS Child, and it has been renamed to more accurately reflect the course objectives. This course is designed to introduce and educate parents who intend to adopt an older child from the foster care system. Those who participate can expect to gain insights on setting realistic and accurate expectations of the child or siblings they will one day be parenting. The course content includes an introduction to attachment trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s), pathways to resiliency, and what it means to be a trauma-informed parent. By the end of this 3-hour training, it is the presenter’s objective that each participating parent will discover a deeper appreciation of the impact of childhood trauma on the child and the adoptive home, the strengths that are within them to parent effectively, and to know where and how to access additional resources.
