Adoption

When children enter the foster care system, the ideal outcome is reunification with their biological families. However, many children and teens cannot be reunified and need a stable, permanent family. Adoption provides vulnerable youth–many of whom come from traumatic backgrounds–the safe, compassionate, and loving home they need.

At Christian Family Care, our goal is to ensure every child and teen experiences a nurturing, Christ-centered home environment where they can thrive. Adoption is the most permanent way to provide this security, granting adoptive parents full legal rights and responsibilities once finalized in court.

The longer children remain in foster care, the harder it can be for them to find a forever family. Many older youth begin to lose hope, which is why our work to help every child find love, stability, and belonging is essential.

Your Adoption Journey with Christian Family Care

Welcoming an older child or teen into your family is a powerful, life-changing way to reflect God’s love, goodness, and faithfulness. At Christian Family Care, adoption is more than a legal process–it’s a ministry that ensures every child and teen is nurtured in a home that knows Jesus.

Adoption Stories

Hear directly from families who have opened their hearts through adoption with Christian Family Care. Their stories share the joy, challenges, and transformative impact that adoption can bring.

“Adopting my 13-year-old son has been one of the most amazing and eye-opening experiences of my life. I heard from a former foster youth one time, ‘All it takes is for one determined adult to give a kid hope for their future…’ I’m humbled to have been chosen to be my son’s mom and it will be a role I handle with love and care!”

Beth, Adoptive Mom

“Adopting a teen has been the best, most challenging, and definitely profoundly positive life-changing experience for our entire family…This experience has expanded our view of love, sacrifice, and family, and we would do it all over again!”

Ryan, Adoptive Dad

“All of his short life, our 11-year-old adoptive son received the message, ‘I don’t deserve a home,’ from every home and family that he was kicked out of or removed from. It was up to us to show him that he does deserve a home, a family.”

Permanency

Permanency offers children and teens in foster care a safe, stable place to belong when reunification with their biological family isn’t possible.

Permanent Guardianship allows a caring adult to step into the daily role of parenting while preserving biological family connections and leaving room for reunification if it becomes safe. Unlike adoption, guardianship does not grant full legal rights and can only be changed by a judge with the child’s best interest at heart.

Thousands of youth in Arizona are still waiting for consistency, care, and commitment. Becoming a Permanent Guardian is a Christ-centered way to stand in the gap—offering hope, stability, and a foundation for the future.

Paths to Permanency

When it is safe and possible, children are reunited with their biological parents. This is always the preferred first goal, supported through counseling, parenting education, and wraparound services that strengthen families and protect children.
When reunification is not possible, adoption provides children with a forever family and the highest level of legal stability. Many children are adopted by their foster families or relatives who have walked alongside them throughout their journey.
Guardianship offers long-term stability while preserving legal ties to a child’s birth family. This option is often chosen when adoption isn’t the best fit, but a child still needs the security of a committed caregiver.
Placing children with relatives or close family friends helps maintain important family, cultural, and community connections. Kinship placements may support reunification—or become a permanent solution through guardianship or adoption.
For some older youth, permanency looks like long-term supportive care paired with strong mentoring relationships and preparation for adulthood. While less ideal than family-based permanency, we work to ensure no young person walks alone.
