Gov. Ducey talks about significant benefit of AZ Foster Care Tax Credit

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey speaks on the issue of foster care and adoption.

“There is no higher priority than the safety and wellbeing of our children,” Ducey said. “Government can do a lot to help these children and we will do everything we can but we can’t do it alone and that’s where the Christian and faith community plays an invaluable, indispensable role,” he added.

“Christian Family Care does tremendous work to positively impact foster care in Arizona and to provide safety, healing and love to abused and neglected children throughout our state,” he said.

All Arizonans can make a difference in the lives of our children.

One significant way you can contribute is through the Arizona Foster Care Tax Credit.

“It’s a simple but meaningful way to impact lives and show your support for the wonderful children and foster families throughout Arizona,” He said. “We all have a role to play in serving Arizona’s children so let’s get out there and do our part. Thank you and God bless,” Ducey added.

Help At-Risk Children and Reduce Your State Income Tax

If you are a resident of Arizona, one of the easiest ways to make a difference in the lives of children is through the Arizona Foster Care Tax Credit. This is not a tax deduction, but an actual credit. Currently, married couples can reduce what they owe in state taxes by $1,000, while single filers are eligible for a $500 credit.

What is the Arizona Foster Care Tax Credit?

This is a charitable contribution you can give to qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations that work with over 200 foster children in a year.

With it, you can reduce what you owe in state taxes by $1000 (married couples) or $500 (single filers) – all at no additional cost to you. In other words, you can either pay the State or you can give to serving at-risk children through Christian Family Care.

Tax Credits, More Valuable Than Tax Deductions

A tax credit will help reduce your overall state tax liability and is not impacted by your tax withholdings during the course of the year. If you withheld more than what you owed, the credit will result in an increase in your state tax refund. If you have no Arizona tax liability for the current year, you may carry the tax credit forward for up to five years. And you don’t have to itemize on your state taxes either—so even working teens can give!

To receive the Arizona Foster Care Tax Credit, make your gift above. We recommend asking your tax advisor to help you claim the dollar-for-dollar credit when you file your Arizona state tax return. You may also be able to claim your gift as a charitable deduction on your federal taxes. Christian Family Care’s Qualifying Foster Care Charitable Organization code is 10024. Place this code on form 352 when filing your Arizona tax return in order to take your tax credit.
