SUMMARY
Our philosophy for Christian Early Childhood Education allows the teacher the opportunity to teach in an atmosphere of fun, discovery, experimentation, and expression. Through researched and proven ECE developmentally appropriate practices, the teacher creates a classroom atmosphere that is Christ-centered, exciting, engaging, age-appropriate, enriched and stimulating. These activities foster growth for a child’s social, emotional, cognitive, language, creative, physical and spiritual development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Relational – Create and maintain a welcoming environment for all guests, preschoolers, and their families. Share the love of Christ with others on the school campus, show a heart of compassion, patience, joy, and kindness and a willingness to serve others. Pray for Christ’s work in the hearts of those we minister to. Maintain confidentiality and contribute to the preschool processes. Equip and involve parents and families of preschoolers.
Professional Development – Attend a minimum of 18 clock hours of training annually either onsite or outside the organization as required by the AzDHS, Child Care Licensing. Training to include new methods, philosophy or research in early childhood development and CPR/First Aid certification.
Curriculum – Develop, schedule, and implement activities and lesson plans that are appropriate to the developmental stages of the children in the group are culturally responsive, and that provide a predictable routine that is responsive to the children’s interests and needs. Be aware and inspired to think creatively to plan for Science, Engineering and Math Creative Expression, Physical and Cognitive growth, and Social and Emotional integration of activities in the classroom. Provide opportunities for playful, hands-on exploration by using a diversity of standard and nonstandard materials, resources, and literature. Integrate God’s truth into the entire day as a natural extension of who we are and what we believe as followers of Jesus Christ.
Safety Measures – Oversee security, cleanliness and maintenance of classroom and equipment. Document incidents, accidents, injuries and concerns immediately. Monitor children’s general health, lunches and attendance. Directly responsible for child’s whereabouts at all times and in all places.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Current AZ State Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Negative TB test within last 12 months
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge: ECE best practices
- Experience: 6 months in child development/preschool setting
